Global Forum Rules.

1 - Stay on topic.

2 - Try not to swear unless you really have to.

3 - Posts should at least be 3-5 words long, if they're too short and its just spam they will be deleted.

4 - Respect other people's opinions and treat them how you would want to be treated. No blatant insults, its not big, its not clever and it'll just reveal how much of an idiot you are.

5 - NO TROLLING! This means anyone who is after an argument, shut the hell up and leave. Anyone who encounters a troll, just ignore them. Sooner or later they'll be banned so don't give them a reason to talk.

6 - Avatars can only be 100x100 pixels large. The forum will not allow anything larger. But also try and keep your avatars less than 50KB. (Animated avatars are allowed, as long as they're not annoying.)

7 - Signatures can be a maximum of up to 500 pixels in width, 175 pixels in height and 100KB max in combined images overall. Maximum size for animated .gif files in sigs is 50KB. (And again, no annoying animations.)

8 - Hentai (images that graphically portray sex (i.e. hardcore anime pornography)) goes in the adult section. This is because it is a section recommended for adults wheres any other part of the forums is meant for all. Its just for convenience. Ecchi or fan service shots (pictures of panties or breasts that do not show nipples) are acceptable anywhere.

9 - AnCo Fame/karma rule: Do not hammer anyone's fame just because you like them, or the other way around. Also you must give a reason why you fame/defame. Getting fame is something one should be proud of, and not to be taken all too lightly. Make sure it is for a good reason! (You need 25 posts to modify karma)



Also, things you should avoid doing to make us mods grumpy.

- Necro posting (reviving old dead threads, in a really dumb way)
- Quoting the above post (No sense in that) if you want to quote something, make sure it is a quote that isn't just above yours.
- Quoting posts with images without deleting the image tag (especially if they're big, and on the same page.)
- Big moving text. (I.E. no more Size 99 moving text, this means you Kei!)
- Doubleposting. (Learn to use the modify button)
- Not paying attention to the rules we have listed above. (it just makes us mad and irritable.)

I think that's a good set of rules.  Although on rule number three... is that supposed to say "Posts shouldn't be 3-5 words long"?

Rules is rules, like 'em or not!  By and large, I think these rules are fair and just.  I'm not too keen on the no-swearing rule, not only because everybody swears in real life and has done so for millennia (which tells me swearing is not that big a deal) but because no-swearing rules are reminiscent of conservatism and religion.  But apart from that single rule, I've no complaints.  I, too, have little patience with flaming and/or trolling.  Not too long ago, on another message board, I permanently banned someone for flaming.  So I'm definitely on board with that!  Taken in the aggregate, these rules are all right - in my humble opinion.
