I believe that's the official title, seems to change depending on where you see it. . .

I'm terrible at summarizing so I'll just use the description on the site i found it on.

Quote
The Japanese government was rescued from the brink of financial collapse by the Sovereign Wealth Fund. For its citizens, however, life has not improved, and unemployment, crime, suicide, and despair are rampant. Kimimaro, raised by his maternal grandmother after the disappearance of his father and the death of his mother, is a scholarship student whose only dream is to avoid all this and live a stable life. One day, however, he meets a man who offers him a large sum of money if he'll agree to pay it back. From then on his fate is radically altered as he's drawn into a mysterious area known as "The Financial District."

a friend of mine described it as a mix between Zatch Bell and the Dark Knight, not quite sure how apt that assumption is but yeah.

It's also the show my current avatar comes from, his name is Masakaki

he's a snarky little bastard.

I haven't started watching it yet, but I hear it's kinda cool. Kind of like digimon or something with money.

I've watched the 6 episodes that Funimation has on their website. It's been entertaining so far, and I'm glad it's taken another direction besides "I'm gonna win as much money as possible!!!111" a la Pokemon ("I'm gonna be the strongest Pokemon trainer evar!!11 So watch me participate in repetitive battles over and over again!!!111"). At least there seems to be some substance and a message behind the whole Financial District rather than just "Be the best person you can be! Wink"

Ultimately, I'd like it to go a little deeper, but it's already episode 6, so I kinda wonder how much more they're gonna introduce.

same, also kinda wish the main character would be able to make his mind up on what exactly he wants to do instead of being so wishy washy.  But i guess that in its own right makes it a tad more interesting.

Am I the only person who thinks of this show as a deconstruction of anime like Yu-Gi-Oh! and whatnot?

EDIT: Just finished ep. 8. Interesting questions, it asks  Smiley
