The Japanese release date of Final Fantasy XIII is now officially prenounced!

It will be released in Japan this winter.
The date in Europe and America will be Q2 2010 so we (Europe and America) have 337 day left waiting for Final Fantasy XIII, but the date is not confirmed.
They say that they will try to make the game in style of the o-so famous Final Fantasy VII or so they say.
I realy have high hopes for Final Fantasy XIII it realy looks awesome so far, and they say they will use 100% of the PS3 grafics, so that is a very big plus.
So for all the co-Final Fantasy fans keep your chins up so we can enjoy the demo and hope that we get a great game in return for our patience.

The demo wasnt that impressive imo.
Tho I for one like the battle system.

But I wont get my hopes up about characters and story..
It seems quite generic to me, the "Fabulous" black dude with the afro and the baby chocobo seems interesting tho. lol I really hope these characters has some dept, that's what killed XII, characters you dont care about, stupid plot, and boring battles.


BUT.


For making a true Final Fantasy, this is the core concept:

Love story.
Great music.
Engaging plot.
Characters you care about. (Aerith.. T_T)
Kickass battle system.
NO FUCKING TIDUS CHARACTERS. (The stupid bishy brats like Vaan in XII, and Raiden in MGS2 >_>)

...And THE MOST IMPORTANT PART.
A damn badass bad guy.

I cant barely remember who the bad guys were in FFXI-XII.

There hasnt really been an really awesome one since VII, and VI.

If worse comes to worse, I'll pick it up and give you the yes or no Red. I think the whole "FFVII" thing is true though since the characters come off alike. Lightning and Cloud? Snow? What's with the weather-related names again? The battle system is pretty interesting too. I'd like to see how the whole combo system will work out.

I Agree with these points.

The funny part is it took them so long to realize they could milk FFVII. When they finally realized making Advent Children was like a gift from God himself, they decided to start actually doing what the fans wanted, which is slowly turning on them. >_>

So, like, there's a Final Fantasy character I came to really admire who's not mentioned in any of these posts - so far, that I can see.  Maybe she's just an artifact from yesterday:  new management, new or made-over characters, old characters tossed into the bin.  I've missed her since Final Fantasy VII and all its spin-off stuff, official and unofficial alike, except for that phony feature film.

I'm reminded of a line spoken by the character Kid Shelleen, from Elliot Silverstein's 1965 feature film Cat Ballou:


Tifa Lockhart is gone, dead and gone.  They tried passing somebody else off as Tifa in the Final Fantasy:  Advent Children feature film, but I don't know who that imposter was.  She wasn't Tifa, that much is sure.  I miss Tifa's compassion for the disadvantaged, her selflessness in being landlady of a public house which fronted a Resistance organization, her unmatched fighting abilities, her caring style of friendship - genuine yet superficially understated....

"Chew 'em up and spit 'em out!" - that's the fate of too many brilliant female characters in anime/games/manga.  Maybe, hopefully, the real Tifa (not some politically-correct version of her) will return one of these days.  But, frankly, that's too much to expect from purveyors of misogyny.  How ironic, that they create splendid female characters yet gleefully treat them like shit and then destroy them.

Tragic, it's my understanding they're holding Tifa in a sub-basement cell at the headquarters of Square Enix Holdings Co. Ltd. in Tokyo.  She's lost a lot of weight, isn't allowed visitors, has no recourse to medical care, is confined to an unhealthy diet, isn't permitted exercise, etc.  You can see for yourself, via this image smuggled out at great risk....

The one reviewer who gave it a 9 tho said that the story up to the halfway point was... rather generic.

They never said that about XII, and that game had the worst FF story ever.

Yeah. I don't like the change in the song honestly. Besides that though, I've been watching the stuff on Kotaku, looks good. The only gripe I have is how you only control one character in battle who is supposed to be like "the main character" at that point in the plot. >_>

I'm hoping this is a lot better than the reviews I've been reading. Everyone keeps talking about how linear it is and are raging at the fact that towns are pretty much eliminated. :\

Owned FFXIII at 12:07 Central time, USA. Got some pictures at the midnight release. There were quite a few jackasses it seems but then again, we were waiting in for a game. >_>

I've played probably 1 1/2 hour(s) into the game. The battle system is pretty cool and the battles can be short but pretty awesome. The system works as you have a time bar that fills and certain techniques and attacks use up more of the time, etc... When you learn new abilities, the combos become even more awesome. Still not too sure on story yet either.

Well, I'm tired and need to get some rest since I still have some classes tomorrow. I'll upload the pictures in the morning. Some chick was in a moogle costume and a guy in a chocobo one lol

There were some more pointless ones, but those were really the main excitement of the trip. The rest of them are just lines and shit. The line probably ended up being like 40 people before they opened the doors, but after the opened the door, it seems liked tons more people wandered in. :\

I now get free time to run around working on C'ieth quests (pretty much sidequests) to get awesome items, gil and xp. Hoping to upgrade all my weapons and acc. at this time so I can get prepped for the oncoming battles. :3
