There exist familiars who have the power to grant one wish to a chosen girl. However, that girl must then become a magical girl and fight against witches, evil creatures born from curses that are responsible for murders and suicides. A schoolgirl named Madoka Kaname and her friend Sayaka Miki are approached by a familiar named Kyuubey and magical girl named Mami Tomoe with offers of becoming magical girls, while another magical girl Homura Akemi tries to prevent Madoka and friends from making such a deal...

I have started watching it and it's truly good, from what I've watched it has a 'Darker' side on the Magical girl stuff I've watched.
My only question is, anyone following it?

Episode 3 truly was a turn out, unexpected & not ready for it even thou I read reviews from my desire to know after having watched episode 2 after the torrents for 3 came out. <shrugs>

I'm really enjoying the show. There are others that are better but this is quite good.

I especially loved Mami's version of Gilgamesh's Gates of Babylon. A crap load of flintlocks appearing behind her and firing. And sometimes she has a mini UBW with the guns stuck in the floor.

There's loads of theories around and they all sound pretty dark. I can't wait to see what happens later.

I'm really liking this series even more. What happened in episode 4 anyone should have been able to see coming ever since the guy in the hospital was seen for the first time. Now it's just a matter of when she'll follow in Mami's footsteps.

The title of the next episode is "There's No Way I'd Regret It", I'm sure Sayaka will try to defend her decision but ultimately she'll feel a lot of regret and not want to fulfil her part of the MG contract. The guy who she just cured definitely did not have a happy face at the end of the episode, he's going to do something that'll make Sayake regret her decision.

With the introduction of that new MG at the end of the episode the first thing I thought is that she and Sayaka will be battling it out. Mami's been killed by a witch, I think Sayaka will be killed by another MG in front of Madoka which will ruin her mind even more. After seeing a new friend get her head bitten off and munched on by a witch another one of her friends was about to kill herself, and then she just got messed around with in the end because of the new witch that showed up.
Sayaka dying in a fight with another MG would cause her to suffer even more. I also think that that would show that you either fight witches to stay alive, or you fight other MG to stay alive.

Spoiler for "theory":

I've seen a theory that Madoka once knew Homura in the past and Homura's wish was for Madoka to stop being a MG and so must forget all about Homura. People are reading into the reactions Homura showed when Madoka said she would never forget Homura. She already has, that's why Homura had those reactions. This is all speculation but would be pretty crazy if true.

I've seen it said that Madoka probably won't become a MG until really late into the series. She's going to suffer a load of hardships now and then when she has a good thing to wish for, like to revive everyone and force them all to stop being a MG so that they can live normal live, she'll be extremely powerful because it's not a selfish wish. Everyone's been saying that Madoka has potential as a MG and this might be why. She might think of a wish along the lines of what I said earlier and she'll want to protect them and everyone else.

That theory you heard is pretty close to correct. Seems that Homura is from a different timeline to prevent Madoka's fate she has already seen. Also, I KNEW KYUBEY WAS EVIL. Always showing shadows of him and such. Now we know he makes contracts so the magical girls will become witches. The analogy he uses at the end of episode 8 was pretty twisted. I kind of expected as much to become of Sayaka, but I couldn't have called this if I had to predict it.
