Here comes the bus!  Route 72 northbound arrives at the intersection of Southeast Powell Boulevard and Southeast 82nd Avenue.  The journey begins.

"Poetically named Garden of Awakening Orchids, Lan Su Yuan, the Portland Classical Chinese Garden is a product of a sister city association between Portland and the historic city of Suzhou, China. Lan Su Yuan is part of a cultural heritage of Chinese garden-building that flourished in Suzhou during China's Ming dynasty (1368-1644)."  - Classical Chinese Garden | Oregon Encyclopedia - Oregon History and Culture

You are most welcome, Shuji and Orion!  It was my pleasure.

Smiley

By the way, that barefooted guy in one of the photographs is my adviser/councilor/therapist from the Vet Center (where he's the boss) in Portland.  He's a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, so had I fallen into the lake I'd have been promptly rescued!

LOL @ Red!  Yeah, I know what you mean!  Perhaps it could then be renamed the Lan Su Yuan Portland Classical Chinese Garden and International Scanlation Center.

In China they have little areas where you are suppose to walk barefoot. It's suppose to be therapeutic. the longer you can walk on the rocks, the better you were suppose to feel later. To me they just hurt like hell, but it's probably because I have soft feet. Smiley One of the mountain parks near Guangzhou had something like this. very interesting to me that is for sure, not so to my wife, who isn't interested in history.

Orion, you've toured in China!  I'm green with envy.  Well, I didn't tread barefooted on the qi-balancing floors at Lan Su Yuan:  The shoes I wore are very comfortable for walking, but they're difficult to put on unless one has a shoehorn at hand - which I didn't.  Maybe next time.

Embarrassed

Kryss and 0235, I'm glad you enjoyed perusing those photographs!  If you ever visit Portland, I'll happily take you to that garden - and some other places as well.
