A quick silliness...spent a week in Arizona, looking at lots of petroglyph art, and...well...

Don't ask me why, but something about petroglyphs lends themselves to kitchen utensils and cooking. I don't begin to know why.

You know, I haven't got a clue where to stick these. There's not really a category for "weirdly obsessive recreations of petroglyphs carrying utensils for no reason except that the artist thinks they NEED utensils, damnit." I guess it's...um...pop art. Sure. Why not?

I think these are out of my system. Mostly. Well, the one with the frying pan on fire might be amusing...

He came from the east, bearing strange new inventions which failed utterly to impress anyone. In vain he offered them the newly domesticated slime-eel, the obsidian-edged whitehead remover,* and the Device For Turning Fish Guts Into An Attractive Rose-Shaped Garnish.

Depressed by the lukewarm reception to his offerings, he sat and ate his lunch with a strange device of his own invention, part spoon, part fork.

"What is that?" the people cried, spying this object.

"This? It's nothing. A spoon-fork thing. I made it so I wouldn't have to carry both."

"It's the greatest thing since fire!" the people cried, rejoicing in their newfound utensil.

"Whatever," said the Sporkbringer gloomily, and went on his way, the slime-eels slopping and prancing at his heels.

I just went and checked out some Web pages about Patapon, kryss.  I see what you mean!  Well, I'm attracted to anything which reminds me of Bronze Age civilization - though I don't know why.  Sometimes I think it's because I've always had a feeling that in a past lifetime I slept hung out with a gal named Helen who lived in Sparta.  I seem to remember something about her moving to Troy, when we broke up.  Other times I feel like I've actually been to wherever all this Patapon stuff happened, perhaps during my military service in this lifetime; and that when I left, the C.I.A. or F.B.I. gave me a drug to wipe my memory of all Patapon associations.  Why would they do that?

Typical dream or nightmare setting

Here's another odd thing.  My late maternal uncle Wilfred looked a lot like this:

Ancestor (?)

Is that weird or what?  He seemed a nice enough guy, though apparently he'd stopped leaving the house years before.  Anyway, maybe I'll have to check out that Patapon game in case it contains hidden messages meant just for me.  Hey, you never know!

Oh, here's a photograph of my old flame Helen from back in the day.  They only had one camera in 1200 B.C.E. but Helen was a goddess or some such thing, so it was all "Yes, Your Highness!" and "Right away, Your Highness!"  Plus, she didn't have the patience to sit around all day having her portrait painted.  She used to say "I'll be in my bunk" a lot.

Bronze Age chicks wore lots of makeup, but that was just the "in" thing to do back then for Alpha females.  I'm all over the place with this post!  *thinks about Helen some more*  I'll be in my bunk.
