Well I was an avid reader of the Gawker sites io9 and Kotaku but since they changed their layout, it just looks and feels like clumsy first date. This design would work well on Tablets, or the IPAD but I can't see it being useful with computers.... Here is a site with a bar graph showing traffic to Gawker... Notice the drop? That was when they implemented their "Modifications" to their websies.

Your thoughts?

Wow, Orion, that's one incriminating graph!  Those who own Gawker obviously haven't heard the old chestnut "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  I'd never visited Gawker before and I doubt I'll do so in future, but that Rick Santorum article was funny.  Also, if I see one more article about that little twerp Justin Bieber I'll vomit.

I don't like the new Kotaku design myself. It feels like there isn't much of a page there anymore. That's a pretty big drop though. I can understand why though. I hate scrolling through that news now on that sidebar. >__<

I've found by typing in the address and putting #!classic makes it look a lot better. Almost like it looked before the change. Although the page still looks quite bland.

I'll have to give huge cred to Gawker for having the balls to go through with this massive redesign.
Especially after what happened with Digg.

People who whine should just use the classic page.
The new design is great imo, it's not like the old design had you scrolling any less, you'd always have to click the annoying "read more" button anyways.

People will come back, or they're idiots.
It's just like when facebook make a redesign.
Only difference is that facebook usually does pointless redesigns, gawker really needed one imo.

nooo! evil has struck on one of ma favourite websites
Playfire, once an amazing site, has recently been ripped appart and rebuilt again, centred around a new tablet friendly display.

it is now hideous, and all the features that distinguished it from other sites have vanished.

It's a sad fact of life, 0235, that people in positions of responsibility frequently and mistakenly believe "change" is synonymous with "progress".

As a designer I have a really hard time with people whining over redesigns.

People are too afraid of change. And whine before they've actually tried it out for a while.

hmm. you have a point red, but when you rip out a good 90% of a website just to make it work on tablet computers, which if you are a gamer, you probarbly dont have, then that does take the biscuit

It'll probably grow on you.  <___< I've been to many forums that had many changes but eventually I got used to the changes.
