hmmm I think we've got the votes of every active member here.  >___> so about 1/3 the population of anco is lefty... Cheesy

That means we should start releasing left-handed manga.

I'd say that the sample of people who answered the pole on this forum is quite small.  If we were able to sample all of the members of anco, including non active members, we would definitely see a lower percentage of left hand users within the 10% range.

Shuji, this is an interesting thread!  Thanks for starting it.  Red, I like that pie chart you posted!

how strange is this, in a biology lesson once, the teacher said that most twins, identicle twins (however thats spelt) have one person naturaly left handed, and one person naturaly right handed, and that a person who is left handed might have had an identicle twin, but they died very early on in pregnancy, whether there is any proof for that, i dont know.

It's called vanishing twin syndrome.  <___< it's interesting that we could have possibly absorbed our twins in our early stages of development.

Here's an interesting article in regard to that syndrome:

Vanishing Twin Syndrome: eMedicine Obstetrics and Gynecology
Overview:   Vanishing twin syndrome, first described by Stoeckel in 1945, is the identification of a multifetal gestation with subsequent disappearance of one or more fetuses. The rate of multifetal gestation at conception is higher than the incidence  ...

In my view, this adds a whole new dimension to the Lilith/Morrigan relationship.  (They're two of my all-time favorite characters.)  I've no idea exactly what that dimension amounts to, but still....

When I was a kid in elementary school, there came a time when one of the teachers told me to stay behind when all the other kids went home.  She then required me to do penmanship exercises with my right hand, for about an hour.  When my mother asked me why I was so late coming home, I told her.  She, in turn, told my father.  He went directly to the school's principal and read her the riot act.  That ended the right-handedness lessons.

Once the testes develop, testosterone rises to high levels. An increase in testosterone in the womb, combined with the extra testosterone from the testes, could cause slow development in the left-hemisphere. This would explain why left-handedness would be more common in males.

Cool

It made my day to learn my hero* Tiffany "Tifa" Lockhart is left handed!  (The relevant Web pages are not up to date, hence my hero Ritona Yoko is too recent an arrival on the anime/games/manga scene to have been listed.  In the absence of assertions to the contrary, I'll assume she's right handed.)

@Fly
Whatever hand Yoko pulls the trigger of her rifle with/punches people with is probably her dominant hand. Unless she somehow uses both, then she might be ambidextrous.

Indeed. Some people can be ambidextrous. A good friend of mine writes with his left hand but still does everything else with his right... Strange imo.

That's a good point, Silent K:  I pulled the trigger with my left hand.  Also, although she usually holds her power key staff in her right hand, I believe Ifurita is ambidextrous.  She is, after all, a humanoid - but to what extent remains a mystery.

Anime-wise, "real" Ifurita appeared only in the original video animation series.
