System for Fly

Ok, a few of you know that I am planning on building a computer for Fly for Christmas. I had first dropped the idea before Fly's current problems with his laptop. Now that he has switched over to an older Desktop system and the monitor isn't all that great I am sending him down a LCD monitor to replace that screen which in hindsight is a good idea since the system I am building for him will probably not work all that grerat on his 14 inch monitor (from the pictures I have seen of his monitor, that is what it looks like)

The reason why I am doing this for a complete stranger is mostly, he Donates money to us each month, even though the guy is on a fixed income. Social Security and the money he gets from being a Vet don't go too far. So this is one of the main reasons why, plus, I have always been somewhat of a generous soul anyway.  

The parts I am using are donated to me from friends and the case is used. I am planning on getting it painted but I don't think I will get it painted with the GL logo like I had planned, unless I can get a stencil for it somewhere. I figure it will be easier if I could find a large GL magnet to stick on the side of the case and another for Yoko. I'll post pictures when I get the time.

The OS will be XP home with an actual COA number used (thus he won't have to worry about having issues with it coming up with a (not genuine) alert. I am installing a DVD/RW in the system and a case + PW supply. Those are the only parts I had to purchase. (which isn't that bad) It will have an 80gb SATA HD (seagate) and a P4 2.6 possessor with a 64mb AGP Video card. (can't find anything larger for now.) It's going to be in a mini case that is about 14 inches high. and it is lightweight.

I'm not needing monies or anything from anyone, unless you want to send some. All I am wanting from you all is a little note that I can send along with the computer when it is finished. It will probably be a few weeks before I send out his new computer, so you have a bit of time to get this done. Thanks!

You can do whatever you want. I was just planning on printing out the notes and including them with the computer. His Monitor is on the way now and I am getting the case painted today. The color I chose was a Metallic light blue. I'll get photos of it tomorrow when I get the case sides back. I was going to go with a GL themed case, but I was taking it to a body shop to be painted and I doubt that they would have wanted to do a design on it... So Maybe I can find some large Magnets to stick to it instead. The computer is more important anyway. (and the thought)

I am going to load it up with PS as well. I got most of the software done, it's just installing all the other programs on it to make sure it is ready for him. He's gunna crap.

Plus he is getting the 17 inch LCD I am sending him anyway. He was going to refuse it, but I told him to "keep" it for now. He's gunna need it for the new system.

That is great Red! Now if we can get others to do the same. Notice, once he does get this system I am planning on moving this whole post into the regular forums so everyone can see. Also, The last parts should be in today and I'll probably have this put together tonight. I'll just need to move my power supply into his system.
