I watched
House last night - the "Private Lives" episode about that Webby gal Frankie (
Laura Prepon) - and she reminded me so much of a friend of mine I just had to post this. Frankie's looks, her mannerisms, her speech - everything about her reminded me of my in-real-life and on-line friend
Sunny.
Laura Prepon as Frankie in "Private Lives" on House Sunny hit the Web with a bang about 12 years ago. She was the first camgirl to stream live video whilst totally naked - which doesn't seem like such a big deal today, but it was a very big deal back in 1998. She quit the camgirl scene about three years ago and had quit doing nude shows a few years prior to that.
Camgirl SunnyI met
Sunny on
Hole.com, the gigantic message board begun by
Courtney Love during the late 1990s, but we didn't really get to know one another until the early 2000s. That's when we hooked up on
LiveJournal.com and began several years of friendly and often intense correspondence via Web logs, electronic mail and good old-fashioned letters. I stayed at
Sunny's home for a few days during "Mr. Cat's European Tour 2008" (my trip to Canada, France, Iceland and the U.K.) and got to meet her husband, children and companion animals.
Sunny is probably the most singular character I've ever known; and although we had a falling out several months ago, I'm eternally grateful for those years of friendship.
Celebratory Sunny Sunny is an intellectual genius who cruised through university curricula like a hot knife through butter. She's also an artist who draws, paints and sculpts. But it's her writing - insightful, voluminous and witty - that impressed me the most. Ah, well, such is life! Maybe
Sunny and I will be friends again some day. I sure miss her. Thanks,
House and
Laura, for stirring all this up!
