Kryss, my laptop computer has that same resolution. My desktop computer has 800x600 resolution! I've used the laptop continuously since it was given me by friends last year, not because of its greater resolution but because it's faster. Both these machines are "old" in terms of what the computer industry wants everyone to think: the Compaq Presario 5WV270 is from the late 1990s and the Toshiba Tecra S1 is from the early 2000s. What gets me is the attitude that everybody's got money to spare and thus can easily buy the latest 1,200,0000x800,000-pixels monitor - the kind which is so big it requires its own outbuildings and zoning variance. The folks who own such monstrosities get on the Web and loudly complain, usually in wallpaper forums, about the uncool people who have monitors with "only" 1024x768 resolution. They hurl insults. They're the cool people, in their own minds. =^..^=

I had a 1024x768 monitor back in the days of Francis, but I never really minded it because I just edited any wp I really wanted so it was that size. Nowadays I have a nice roomy 1440x900 resolution. Current: I made this from a piece of fanart. I really only redrew the top of Alfred's head, and his curl. Plus I added some random thing on the other side to balance the composition a bit. I generally dislike walls with too much negative space.

Please click on the image to view its full size. When viewing this screenshot, please bear in mind two things: (a) the monitor on this machine (Compaq Presario 5WV270 desktop) is ten years old and the images on its screen are dark as night, so the desktop wallpaper is adjusted via GIMP Image Editor so I can see it; and (b) relief is in sight, as an actual properly-working monitor is winging its way to me even as we speak. My main computer (a Toshiba Tecra S1 notebook) is under the cyber version of hospice care - doomed by those knuckleheads who decided to "integrate" video cards with motherboards, making it impossible for mere non-wealthy mortals to get the damned things fixed. Wouldn't it be nice if computing systems were designed and manufactured by ethical and moral people? Ah, dream on! =^..^=
