With many light novels, the first instance of certain kanji in a chapter is accompanied by furigana, but none thereafter. Light novels are a real test of vocabulary and grammar knowledge.

I see.. You can read them with no problem right? How many years you studied Japanese for until you can read and hear stuff fluently?
Maybe I'll pick some light novels up in a few years time..

I'm not sure I can give you answers to those questions to be honest. I've been studying Japanese for nearly six years and can't understand all the nuances of the language. That's what I read for - I hope to improve gradually.

You'll need to get this or something similar if you want to be better with kanji. Remember Japanese kids have like 8 years of studying. |
