My copy of Gurren Lagann Kirameki Yoko Box - Pieces of Sweet Stars - [limited Release] arrived today.  It's 10 1/4 inches tall, 7 5/16 inches wide and 1 1/16 inches deep.  Here's what it looks like:

Front of box

Rear of  box

Front of CD/DVD box

Rear of CD/DVD box

Cover of CD/DVD container

Interior of CD/DVD container

Front cover of book

Back cover of book

I'll fiddle with all the regional-settings malarkey tonight.  This box set looks a lot better in person than in my lousy photographs, to be sure!

Awesome. Mine got sent out on Monday, so hopefully it's here soon.
Regional settings? I thought Japan and the EU are the same region... oh you're from the States... haha. I've always thought you're from somewhere in Europe Flyvapnet. I'm blind.

I hope yours comes soon, Kov.  I received an e-mail message from Amazon.co.jp yesterday stating the box had been shipped that day (the 26th) and it arrived here this morning!  I was stunned.

Shocked

It's a great deal shinier than what you see in those low-light photographs of mine, by the way.  The book is quite impressive, I must say!  Not being literate in Japanese, I'm confined to looking at the pictures; but that's plenty of reward in and of itself.

Wink

Now all I have to do is get the disks to play on my local machine, which shouldn't be a problem.  (I keep a hammer right here next to the machine at all times.)  Even then, of course, it'll be in Japanese; but at least it's all mine!  *laughs evil laugh*

Not sure if you've seen this yet Fly, but they have a PV out for the S.T.A.R.S song or whatever.

I'll just leave this here....

Thanks, Tragic.  I've snagged those two videos.  Imagine:  Gainax marketing one of its characters!  What will they think of next?  I had to laugh at "Brad Rice" for his trendy pretense of disapproval, but at least he provided some media.

Thanks again, Tragic!  As it happens, I've got all three tunes in MP3 format.  Yay!

Nobody seems to putting the DVD out there, though, so I thought I'd do it myself.  But, I'm puzzled:  VLC media player has already taken up more than 3 gigabytes of storage space decoding the damned thing - and it's still going!  I've no idea what it's doing, but I'll just have to give up on it because that amount of storage (for one rather-short DVD) is unacceptable.

Success!  Thanks to the miracle of Magic DVD Ripper I've been able to transform those two titles on the "Yoko Box" disc into AVI files, so in theory they can travel far and wide.  Actually, though, the interview with Marina Inoue is too big for uploading to my on-line storage site; but at least Yoko's little video is available.  By that I mean:  you can find it here, but please don't broadcast that link all over the place.  Sure, the quality isn't great but there's no stupid "YouTube" logo stuck in a corner.

In keeping with the Wonders of Capitalism As We Know It, I'm loving this particular screen capture because it illustrates what kind of work awaits war veterans when they return home - at least here in the States.  Although this scene is undoubtedly intended to be set in Japan, it's universal in its implications:

Of course Yoko as Yomako ended up with a nice teaching job, but at some point she obviously worked at a shit job too.  Yes, we've all been there!

Cool

VLC? You shouldn't be using that Fly. Use MPC instead. VLC is epic fail imo.

In spite of all the fan service, I'm really glad that they shoved a bunch of cool alternate-world extras in the video. Bassist!Viral, saxophonist!Dayakka and cheerleader!Leeron are just some of my favorites. 8D

Nehs, if all you choose to see in Yoko is fan service then you're in the wrong thread.  This is my thread and it's about Yoko's box-set video.  That's spelled Y-O-K-O.  If you'd like to start a thread about everyone else apart from Yoko, please feel free to do so.

I was talking about the content of Yoko's video overall, not fussing over the fan service amount. I've seen the video. I like the video. I was pointing out that I was glad to catch other little tidbits in there as well, not just Yoko (even if she is really cool all on her own). Sorry if I scraped the topic the wrong way for ya.
