My long-time friend Sunny Crittenden and her family are in dire need of a decent automobile, their present one being in a falling-apart state.  Consequently, she and her husband Blake have entered a contest whereby they could win a Nissan Cube -- or two.  Before you dismiss this with an understandable "I hate contests!" assertion please take into account the fact I'm asking you, as a personal favor to me, to help them

How?  By voting, of course!  Please go to Sunny's Web site at Sunny Crittenden, Textibitionist Extraordinaire, where you will find the whys and wherefores regarding this contest.  It's a "vote every day" sort of thing, with only six days remaining.  They live in a small town and Blake works many miles away, necessitating a long commute.  Sunny is an artist, a fine writer and an inspiration to many people.

Her children:  Madison and Wes

The happy couple

Thank you very much for helping Blake and Sunny!  They, like too many of us, are in a perpetual state of being broke; so a new car would be of immense help to them.

Remember that winning something from a contest doesn't mean that it is "free" The Government will want to collect "tax" on that. I'll help, but I just thought I'd warn you.

If its like the same tax we have over here, then yeah they can collect taxes from it.

Nothing goes without paying taxes over here..

I voted anyhow.

Thank you very much, all of you who voted!  There are 500 contestants and with five days to go Sunny is now in ninth place, having never been out of the top ten.  Fifty cars will be given away.  This daily voting is just one aspect of the contest, but it surely helps to have that public support!

Hikaru, most governments will tax a person who wins something in a lottery, or expensive prizes. It might be free, but if it changes your earned income in some way, the government will swoop in there and grab a share from you.
